I really do have the best of intentions, I start to blog, then get distracted by the wee one, or my computer moves at the speed of molasses in a deep freeze, that kind of thing.
So, here is the quick review:
1) Our little Shoe kitty went to heaven last week. He got very sick around Christmas, stopped really eating, had a really distended belly - we think it was cancer, vet could not say for sure, but that's what he thought as well. So we tried some steroids, and that perked him up a little, but not enough. We had an appointment for euthanasia, we did not want him to suffer, and then Cobb got really sick overnight (would not put any weight on two paws) and Ken and I panicked. We justified that Shoe did not appear to be in any pain. So we bailed. And then he had a couple of good days, and then we woke up last Monday and it was pretty obvious that he was ready. He went at home before we could even get to the vet. I think that's how he wanted it. But it's still a little sad around here. Erin keeps asking for ShoeShoe. We like to think he's running around like he did as a kitten, and Boppa is teasing him.
2) Cobb - kind of a mystery about the second kitty. Woke up one morning and he would not put weight on his front right and left rear paws. Vets don't know what is going on, best guess is a bone infection (odd thing is he went in for a check up and had blood work done three days before and everything was fine.) He's doing better, and getting around, but still limping. We have another check up next week.
3) Erin is famous again. As I am sure some of you have already seen, she is on Teresa Collins' blog. And we could not be more pleased to have such an amazing designer and wonderful person use her photo. :)
4) Erin started swim lessons on Sunday. So far Erin is not a fan and clings to mommy with the fear-of-Santa-death-grip. Hopefully we move past this stage quickly. There is a cool slide at the pool, I am hoping to use that as a bribe this week.
5) Erin has become a parrot, and we have 4-5 new words a day. The newest ones I can think of at the moment are mon-key (as in the monkeys jumping on the bed; Hill-we (Hillary is one of the teachers at the YMCA and clearly Erin's favorite); nap (though we did not take one today), sleep; pee-jays (pajamas); fell (everything used to "dwrop", not "mama it fell"); vote (daddy taught her that last night enroute); puppy, I want puppy (after meeting the Conway's new PWD); and something that is an approximate mimic of "piggy tails"-- see below.
6) I caved. I finally tried piggy tails. I am no hairdresser, but daddy thinks they are adorable, he made me get the camera, take pictures, and then told me I had some blogging to do.
